Etihad Rail Stage 2, Package D, permanent way works extend over approx. 147 km from the border between Sharjah and Dubai to Fujairah Port and comprise both single-track and double-track sections. The project connects future freight facilities and passenger stations and forms part of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) railway strategic network.

The scope of the design management of SSF includes: Track and alignment, track materials, earthworks (embankments and cuttings), geotechnical studies, project measurement, drainage and hydrology, roads (including geometric design, sand mitigation, and pavement), tunnels (including temporary and permanent works), ventilation systems, mechanical, electrical, and public health (MEP) systems, and structures (including under-bridges, underpasses, over-bridges, overpasses, culverts, MSE walls, retaining structures, foundations, dry utilities, wet utilities, and crossings).

Verification of completeness, plausibility, constructiveness, and required reviews, approval of drawings, final approval as ‘ready for construction’, evaluation of feasible and economical methods based on employer requirements, including design optimisations, and participation in design quality meetings.
